Work in Progrerss Low Poly Model

ter doing nothing for a few days (Bad Scott), I decided to pull out a character that my friend drew up to model. Here's a basic work in progress shot. (The cubes are placeholders.)

5!

This time, I gave this guy 2 hours.

I think that I'm getting closer to my goal. Either way, 4 drawings left. Then I move onto hands.

4/9

I think this one was much better than the last ones. Either way, comments and critiques are more than welcome.

Once again, this painting took roughly an hour to do.

2 of 9 portraits

My goal is to get these portraits done in 1.5-2 hours. After that, move on to 9 hands/feet/torso/pelvis/arms/legs, and probably repeat this again and then start some full body stuff. Anyways!

Over the fields and through the river

Once again, done in mypaint. This time, using a development version with oil paints (which for some reason, I want to call clay paint...)

Also, one of these days I'll post my current sketchbook online.

Mypaint is sexy

Using a sexy program called mypaint. So far, I'm liking it a lot for doing paintings. And it's free! Huzzah!

Works for me!

Update! Yay! Wooooo!

Anywho, I've decided that after doing warehouse work since 2006 (ugh), I'm going to try to do something I should have done a while ago. Be my own boss. I plan to have material ready to sell by the end of the week, and then start dishing out the models/ scenes to (hopefully) good websites, and wait for a bite.

PS- I'm trying this cool unbiased renderer called LuxRender. So, I'm probably going to use and abuse it for preview renders for the products! Yay!

PSS- I need a faster computer. :(

Either I'm crazy....

Or I think I know what field I should go into.

Earlier today, I was experimenting with two things. Simulating deferred rendering (google it up), and adaptive anti aliasing. Both were a success (the adaptive anti aliasing, more than the other one), and I started to think for a bit.

I think that I'm going to focus on one of two fields. Modeller/ texture artist, or technical artist. Both have their challenges, and (aside from character rigging, but I'm sure that I can get use to that), they feel natural and fun.

Anyways, that's my news as of late. But, here's an update on my artistic endeavours.

Sculpted wizard- still adding sculpy. Will be finished one of these days.
3d scene- Right now, the textures are bugging me a bit. I'm trying to figure out an easy way to do rock pathways in a cartoony fashion. The easiest is probably to model them, but so far the method I'm using is going to take a while to render. I'm probably going to get back to this one after I'm done the next project... which is...
Birthday present!- Friend of mine's birthday is coming up. So, since I'm broke and can't afford anything, I thought I'd make her something. So far I have a lovely sketch for it, and I'll upload it once I've done an initial pass for the clean up. It's quirky, and so far it's fun. The only thing I'm worried about is I haven't really used pencil crayons before, and that's the only medium I have instant access to. That, or sculpy. But I still want to sculpt my bunny first. :(

Senile Old Wizards!

Back in my day, we were made of nothing but wire. You kids today, and your fancy clay and sculpy. Pfft!

First, the life drawings.

That's all for now. I'll put some more stuff on once I have it uploaded and stuff.

Portfolio group created, yo.

So, the portfolio group has been created. While it is for Cap students trying to get into animation, it's really for anyone who's interested in getting into schools for the arts, or getting some practise down to make their portfolio better in general. If you're not in the Vancouver area and you want to join in on this project, then feel free to make your own group for your community.

If at first you don't succeed...

So, since the Cap summer animation program is almost over, I thought that it was a good idea to create a protfolio building group. If anyone is interested, email me (I'll write my email up on the board, and probably the 3d room on Monday).

Also, hello everyone looking at my awesome 2 post blog!
